1. Tell us a little bit about yourself: What got you interested in art? Have you taken any art classes?

Hi. I'm Liezl but I go by the name "Hitome" in the art world since I joined Deviantart. Anime or japanese animation basically got me into art. I find it fascinating. I'd love to enroll in art classes but sadly, no, I haven't.

2. When did you start drawing?

I was already doodling things even when I was 3 or four years old. I guess that's normal for every child to draw a flower, butterfly, house and trees. At elementary, I remember one of my classmates asked me to draw his project. I think it was a map. At High school, I have a friend who also loves to draw so during lunch break we would go to their house to look for newspapers with Disney characters printed on it as reference for drawing. I was in third year high school when I started drawing anime. I was so addicted to the Anime Fushigi Yuugi that I even have drawn almost 150 of it. But of course it was all an imitation of the image in the text card. My classmate brought a drawing of her older brother and when I saw it, I was amazed. It was when I learned about the art of shading. Her brother can draw really good.

3. Can you remember one of the first things you drew etc.? What makes it memorable?

A dog! My mother was very proud and praised me. I think it was the first time that my family noticed I have a gift in drawing.

4. Who discovered that you can draw?

My mother told me that I can draw when she saw my drawing of a dog. We had a calendar with drawings of dogs and I copied it. And whenever my classmates ask me to draw for them, that is an understatement. I also got high grades at Art subject so I think I can draw,  right?  Or was I mistaken? T^T

5. What is your preferred medium and why?

I prefer graphite or pencil. I'm use to it. But I also like using watercolor.

6. How long does it take you to make one picture?

It depends on the drawing. Mostly, 3-4 hours.

7. Where do you get inspirations from?

From everyday experience and from people I observed. Most of the times, after watching anime or reading books. But there are also times that I just feel like drawing.

8. What kind of an environment you like to work best?

Where i can be by myself, i guess, in my room, sitting on my bed, at night.

9. How to be a good artist?

Just keep on practicing. Take time to relax. And never forget to ask God for guidance that you may bless Him and glorify Him through your drawing.

10. Do you have a favorite artist? If yes, what draws you to that person’s work?

I like Hayao Miyazaki and his works and how he uses art in sending a message.

11. Do you have an online portfolio or a blog where we can view your work?

Yes. This blog. But my first art portfolio was on deviantart where you can view my older works. Here's the link: http://hitome.deviantart.com. I also have a Facebook Artpage: Hitome
