Watching the heart-wrenching news made me remember the conversation between the Tricycle driver and his passenger last Thursday night, 6:00 P.M., just a few hours before Yolanda's land fall. I was sitting at the back and was only listening... Err eavesdropping Well, I don't have a choice.

The driver asked if the service will be postponed since there is a typhoon (yolanda) coming. When I heard the word "service", since I am a Christian, first thing to come in mind is "worship service". Then second is wake/vigil. The passenger, while laughing, replied, "it can't be cancelled, not unless Typhoon Yolanda will have very strong winds. Besides, tomorrow is 'bakbakan' ". Upon hearing that, I wondered "Bakbakan? Is there a war?" I looked at the passenger. He has a well-built body so I thought he must be a soldier.

I don't know if it's funny or just really annoying, I've learned, as I continued to listen, that the "Bakbakan" he mentioned means "Sabong" or cock fighting. I realized that after the passenger said there will be 20 Chicken which will be involved in that "Bakbakan!" I don’t have any idea that ‘sabongeros’ used such term.

I was like "WHAT??? There's a storm coming and your only concern is cock-fighting!!! At this very difficult time, you should be praying! Grrgh! Forgive them Father for they do not know what they were doing..." I wanted to shout and react violently. But I chose to keep my thoughts to myself.

Contemplating, what if instead of Leyte or the Visayas region, what if it was CARAGA which was directly hit by Yolanda; what would happen with those two? What if they are two of the so many people who died?

Right now, most probably, they saw the news and how tragic it is. What could be their thoughts? Will they be able to say “Thank God”? Will they be able to realize and repent and say “Forgive me God. Many people have suffered and died on the other part of the Philippines while I was on the cockpit thinking only for my temporary pleasures.” Or will they care at all?

How about you? What were you doing at that time? Were you on your knees or were you just apathetic about it???

We've been devastated by calamities this year. The Armed conflict in Zamboanga City, then the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in the province of Bohol and Cebu, the floods due to the Habagat Moonson which has  affected many lives in some parts in Luzon and just lately, the Super Typhoon Yolanda which has taken so many lives.

Pray for comfort especially for those who have lost not only their properties but also their love ones.

For for provisions especially for food, water, clothing. That every person's need will be met.

I know God has a reason for all of this. We may not understand it right now but let's hold on to our faith. God is never blind. He sees our pains and hurts and it hurts Him also to see us go through such hardships. But it will surely work out together for our good.

Another storm is coming. Tropical Depression "Zoraida" will enter Philippines' area of responsibility by Tuesday. It may not be as strong as "Yolanda (Haiyan)" but the rain will still affect the people especially that it will pass through the Visayas where the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Samar and many areas which was gravely devastated by Yolana.

I am living in Agusan del Norte in Mindanao, Philippines. Thank God even though our province was at Signal # 2 during Yolanda, we had zero casualty. Today, we are under Signal # 1 due to Tropical Depression Zoraida. Zoraida's first land fall will be in my province. It's been raining this morning.

Thank you so much for your prayers.

She was so small, the doctor said.
Yet she can already kick just a day after
Making them cover her blanket again and again

Childhood was so fun
Catching shrimps with her cousins in the river near grandma and grandpas house
Remembered the time she fell in the pond
Even though nobody pushed her while she was just sitting & staring at the water
Then she got a fever later on

Watching grass and rice leaves dancing with the wind
and forming images with clouds on the horizon
Simply living, simple dreams
A life with her family, not perfect but still a blessing.

Those were the sunshine days.

GOD's love is stronger than the winds, deeper than the oceans, higher than the waves! Those who seek His refuge will be truly safe!

Don't be disheartened. Don't be scared. He'll get us thru this storm.

Don't look at the waves and sink like Peter, focus on Him and you will surely see His hand reaching out to you.

If you won't, you might end up shipwrecking your faith.

So hold on to Jesus.

Here are some photos I found on the web. I do not own the photos.

NAME FIGHT (Yolanda vs. the Name Above All Names)

So, your name is Yolanda??? You're not that great, you know. Yeah, yeah, you're bigger than the usual and you are being described as SUPER. SO WHAT!

This I will tell, there is one name that is greater. It is JESUS!!!

You're trembling now???

I'll tell you about my Jesus. He can calm storms. He can walk on water. He can raise a dead back to life. He created the vast universe. He exist even before you exist!

There's no other name greater than the Name of Jesus. And if you, Yolanda, have some knees and if you could only speak , you will surely fold your knees and declare the wonder of His Name. FOR AT THE NAME OF JESUS, EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT HE IS LORD!

There's nothing to be proud of. Why? Because God only allowed you to grow that big so that He could show His immense power to all people that He is greater over all, even you!

You see, my God is in control.

You are not something to be feared. But do you know what's even more frightening? It is not going through you (storm) but living without God.

Here's the Word of the Lord for His people:

Stress! How do you cope up with stress?

Well, everyone has a way of coping with stress. For some, they go shopping or go to salons to feel relax or relieve. Others, they meet with friends and have some girl/boy talk: ventilating their thoughts and emotions. Still others, like me, are into arts. I would assume that since you are reading this post, you are into arts too to deal with stress.

Do you mind if I ask what are the things that are stressing you out? Is it your work? Could be. Possibly, a complicated love relationship? Or maybe some members of your family? But, one thing I learn from the training (Psychosocial Process Training) that I am currently attending, WE, yes, we ourselves could be the stressor of ourselves.

One thing is demanding too much from ourselves. Our expectation from ourselves is beyond our skills, abilities and intelligence. Another thing also is our way of thinking. Like in how we perceive or understand the other person's words and actions.

Most children nowadays, because of the accessibility of cameras, have their baby pictures. Moms (and dads) who never want to miss a single event or moment with their baby as they grow, took pictures using cameras from cellphones, digital cameras and even use Tablets and DSLR cameras if they have one. But I was born earlier this Gadget Era and the only photo I had when I was young was a picture of me wearing a yellow dress with my back and my two palms pressed on the wall. AND WITH A SHOCKED EXPRESSION. Just like the expression of the drawing. Funny, right? Too bad I wasn't able to preserved that picture. :(

*Start* I was in a familiar place. I saw familiar faces. But the one I really longed to see was not around. I roamed my gaze at the people surrounding me hoping he is around and then I saw this one man, face down,  looked up and then there he was -  the one I miss and wanted to meet again after some time. And then I woke up. *End*

That was crazy. I woke up still having the gushy feelings from my dream. It seems my face was flustered and I was blushing. ^_^ I loved him.

I was sketching and drawing this and decided to draw the hair like that which reminded me of someone I know. Which means, that's why I dreamed of him. But oh I really wish it was real. T__T

Why is it that most of the time, we only realized the importance of the person in our lives only when they are gone??? I realized that I loved him too late. (He's not dead. Haha... )

Anyway, as promised, I colored the lineart with REEVES Watercolor. (Above is the scanned version of the drawing. Below are only pictures of the drawing

I feel a burning sensation in my heart whenever I see great art. Truly inspiring! It just show that art really is my passion. T____T

Anyway, here's to the first Featured Artist. *Clap clap* I believe she truly deserves to be the first artist to be featured here. I so love her art. So, child-friendly? Gosh, I'm out of words. I can't really express how amazed I was when I discovered her blog through Google search. When I saw her artworks, I told myself "Hey, I think its already time to do some feature post!"

And yeah, here are some artworks from her blog and her website

*Note: And she loves cat too!

To be honest, this is just as a Filler post but I do hope that people will understand just like how anime enthusiasts and otakus understand the so many filler scenes of some anime series they love...

Another walk-through of my art work for the last few years...

I was able to visit the beautiful city of Metro Davao last August 10, 2013. My sole purpose was really to buy my most coveted item since I learned of its existence! A graphic tablet!

Finally, I got my Wacom Bamboo Fun (Pen and Touch) and I got to immediately try it with one of my lineart. Hmmm. I still got so many things to discover and I'm having great fun.

Bamboo, I love you! By the way, why is it called Bamboo? Need to do some research...

Here's some coloring I did last night... Hopefully, when my hands get use to it, I'll get better.

I so love cats and dogs. They are so adorable. And when I adore some thing, it makes me really inspired to draw. It all started with the 100 Theme Challenge I did with my friend and of the theme was to draw cats and dog. I looked for reference and then voila! I saw an old calendar with pictures of cats and dogs and I feel in love with them.

The following are some of my old portrait drawings when I was younger and still got many time to spare. As you can see in the drawing (it shows), I still have less knowledge about different media. During College, my financial resources were also limited that the only medium that I can afford was a regular pencil used by Elementary pupils!

Now, walk through how I draw for the past 8 years... I feel really nostalgic. ^_^

I think this is my first portrait drawing. This guy, Hero Angeles,  is a winner of the talent search contest called STAR CIRCLE QUEST.

My personal criticism:

Wow! I'm that old in Deviantart! I just remembered my school days when I usually draw 5 per day! Oh how I miss those days! Realized that when you get older, you have other more important things like working for a living that you need to really set priorities.

Want to color your drawings using photoshop? What you need is a scanner and of course, Adobe Photoshop. (Mine is CS5)

So here's the drawing I scanned.

Now you know.^__^ I draw it on a scratch paper. There's a mountain of scratch papers in the office that are still usable. Doing that is environment-friendly too! So, since it's already a habit of mine to draw on every paper I see (I'm an art maniac hahaha except when I have Artist Block), I started sketching and then scan.

Just some random drawing I did during some vacant time at work yesterday! I miss making 3-4 sketches/drawings per day. Drawing is my scapegoat from such a very hectic day. :)

Still practicing Photoshop. I need a new mouse! Coloring with a mouse is hard but only using the touchpad is much harder. :( Dear tablet, why are you so elusive!?

Tuesday, July 2, 2013

I'm burned out. I feel lazy today. I feel not doing anything. But too busy at work, got so many clients today asking for assistance due to the fire incident the other day. I need to relax a bit so I tried coloring an old drawing through ADOBE Photoshop CS5 using a mouse.

Someone has annoyed me too so I'm kinda not in the mood. I think I just need a vacation. Maybe, I should take a leave from work 2 or 3 days. What do you think?

Got my hand injured yesterday while playing a game "Emergency." It happened so fast that I didn't noticed who pushed me. I fell on the cemented floor and instinctively used my right hand for BRAKES! It was so painful, but due to adrenaline rush (and maybe for fear of humiliation), I immediately stood up and ran back to my chair.

Just felt the pain after the game. My hand is swollen until now and it's blue because of the bruises. But I think I don't have to see a doctor anymore. It will get better. I can still move my thumb. As of the moment, I just can't hold a spoon and use a scissor since it's still painful.

Hopefully, it will be fine and I can start drawing again.

Most of my artworks were products of boredom! And the most available medium is a ballpen... Thank you my dear cheap ballpen!

I so love the Korean series Queen Seon Deok and one of my favorite character was Bidam played by the very handsome and manly Kim Nam-gil... I hope he is already back from the military service so that he'll have more series and movies that I'll surely watch. ^__^

KUDOS to these three (3) young ones.

Caught these young lads and ladies doodling something on their notes during the Youth Congress... I am still amazed at the doodles they made. They were quiet good at their age. I wish I took some pictures of their works to post it here also.

[I was one of the facilitator of that activity and what was I doing also? I was also doodling them! ^___^ ]
